Second Street CompoundThe second level consists of the main house bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry room, deck, balcony, guesthouse, and guesthouse deck. The second story volumes slip and balance atop the first floor masses to create a layering of volumes rather than a superimposition of volumes that create monolithic two story masses. The second story volume of the main house is offset from the first floor volume to create the driveway/carport and second story deck and balcony off the master suite. The guesthouse balances off a finger-like extension of the garage mass to free the ground for driveway/carport and guesthouse yard use. |
